The “Maze of Maize” in South Mississippi

Ever wonder about corn? Well, early fall is the perfect time to teach your kids about this important crop and to experience it firsthand by visiting a favorite family attraction in South Mississippi.

For western civilization, the story of corn begins in 1492 when Christopher Columbus' men discovered this new grain in Cuba and took it back to Europe. Most historians believe corn was domesticated centuries earlier in Mexico and spread quickly across South and North America, where native people cultivated and cross-bred many species of the grain for varied uses.
