Forgiveness for the Non-Sporting Soul

I don’t care for sports. I never have. During my childhood in New Orleans, I spent free time roller skating and riding bikes with kids from the neighborhood. I was active, but it wasn’t the competitive, organized kind of active.

Lynn Meadows, Other Mississippi Museums Included in Smithsonian’s Free Admission Day

On Saturday (Sept. 27), Smithsonian magazine will sponsor the ninth annual “Museum Day Live!” event, where admission will be free at various cultural institutions around the nation. Participating in this special arts promotion are several museums in the state of Mississippi, including the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s premier hands-on learning museum for young children, the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, located in Gulfport.

For one day only, participating museums will -- in the style of the Smithsonian Institution’s “free admission every day” policies for its museums in Washington D.C. -- offer admission free of charge on one day only, Sept. 27, to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket from Smithsonian.com/museumdaylive.
